Parents, please come to
our first ever, "Guided Tour Through the 1st Plane
of Development"
Next
Tuesday, October 9th at 6:30 PM. Meet in the Front Royal Studio and prepare to be
astonished!
The 1st Plane of Development
encompasses your child's first 6 years of life.
This is a period of
incredible growth and development that lays the foundation for a happy
and healthy adulthood.
This event promises to reveal
how Montessori theory and materials support this vital
process.
CHECK YOUR CALENDAR FOR UPCOMING SCHOOL
CLOSINGS
Please note that this Friday, school is
closed for Montessori Beginnings, Primary, and Elementary classes.
This day off allows several of our staff members to attend the North American
Montessori Teachers Association conference entitled, "The Thoughtful School:
Social and Educational Realities of the Montessori Experience." Our Farm School will have school this Friday (the students
have an overnight this Thursday, so just pick up at regular time on
Friday). Both campuses are closed on Monday for
Columbus Day.
THERE IS A CHILL IN THE AIR
...
The weather is getting cooler, so this is a good time to mark
your children's names on their sweaters, jackets, coats, hats, and
gloves.
FESTIVAL OF LEAVES PARADE, SATURDAY, OCTOBER
13TH
We are in need of participants and assistance to
decorate our float for the Festival of Leaves Parade scheduled for Saturday,
October 13th. The Front Royal Festival of Leaves is a wonderful community
event sponsored by the Warren Heritage Society, and our participation in
the parade has been a long-held tradition at our school. Riding on the
float is especially enjoyed by children age 3-12. Toddlers can
participate, too, if their parents pull them behind/along side the float in
decorated wagons or strollers. We are seeking donations of harvest
decorations - artificial autumn leaves, cornstalks, potted mums,
pumpkins, scarecrows, etc. We also need straw bales for seats on
the flatbed trailer. All donations will be returned in good condition at
the conclusion of the parade. Thanks to all who have already volunteered
to help or provide decorations. If you haven't volunteered yet but would
like to, please let us know.
We will contact all volunteer decorators next
Wednesday with the game plan for our autumnal creation (ie: the float). On
the day of the parade, decorators should arrive at 9 AM and those who just
want to ride should arrive at 9:45 at our assigned position in the parade
line-up. The parade starts at 10 AM. Please watch your email
for the exact (well, sort of) location of our meeting place.
MARTIN'S A+ REWARDS
PROGRAM
It is time again to register everyone's
Martin's Bonus Card numbers for the Rewards Program. Last year our school
received $1,357.31! All we
have to do to make or exceed this gift is to register your Martin's
Bonus Card numbers, designating Mountain Laurel as the recipient
for your school bonus points (this has no effect on any other promotions
that you accrue with your Bonus Card). Bonus Card
numbers must be registered each year, so please send your 11-digit numbers
to Elaine Glier via email, telephone, or the office. The
easiest way is to simply respond to this email. All Bonus Card
numbers begin with 480. No other information is needed, so please
don't worry about getting unsolicited correspondence - not even your name is
required for registration! Do you have any relatives
or friends who shop at Martin's? Ask them to let us designate their Bonus
Card numbers, too! Thanks to all of you who
have already sent in your numbers. If you haven't yet, please do so today
so we can take full advantage of this generous and simple fundraising
opportunity!!!
BOXTOPS FOR

Thanks to the hard work and diligence of Julie
Smith, our school has already made over $50 this school year from sending in
Boxtops for Education. Please check your cupboards and pantry for those
cute little blue squares on General Mills brand items. Please follow this
