"If you witness a child's happiness in all its intensity, then you cannot fail to notice that the highest level of joy results from having overcome some obstacle - from a goal attained or a mystery solved.  This is the happiness of triumph and the bliss of independence."

TAX TIME FOR TODDLERS
And preschoolers and any children in before-school or after-school care ... You may be able to deduct childcare expenses on your income tax return.  (Please consult your tax advisor.)  If you are one of the lucky ones, contact the school for the Tax ID.  Hope Uncle Sam is kind to you this year.

CONTRACTS
Enrollment contracts have been distributed and we're honored and gratified by those who have already renewed their commitment to Mountain Laurel for next year.  If you have not received a contract packet, please contact Rose DiNinno or Elaine Glier in the school office.

The deadline for signed contracts and deposits for current students is March 1.  We anticipate early waiting lists so placement in our programs cannot be guaranteed for current students after the March 1 deadline.  Please also note that for current students there is a $100 charge for contracts/deposits received after the March 1 deadline.  It is not too late to observe in our classrooms and meet with our staff in order for you to feel confident about your enrollment decision.  We urge you to take this opportunity before the March 1 deadline passes.

VALENTINES DAY

On Thursday, February 14, we will celebrate Valentine's Day in fun but simple ways.  We want to let the children express their friendship through the exchange of Valentine's Day cards, but with no candy or other treats like stickers, toys, etc.  We truly want the children to come to understand that it is the thought that counts, and a lovely card is the best way to express it.  Children in the Toddler Community and the Primary classes may bring Valentines to school to distribute to their classmates.  Please have your child "sign" the cards in some way, but do not put their friends' names on the cards.  (Try to imagine how hard it is in a large class to distribute a specific card to a specific person!)  There are 30 students in Ms. Irre's classroom, 30 students in Ms. Baumgart's classroom, and 10 students in Ms. Hughey's classroom.  The children in Elementary will be making their own Valentines during school, so Elementary children should not bring anything from home.  Each class will enjoy a Valentine's Day treat in their classroom which will be provided by the school.

BOXTOPS 4 EDUCATION

Thanks to the hard work and diligence of Julie Smith, our school has already made over $228.00 this school year from sending in Boxtops for Education.  Please check your cupboards and pantry for those cute little pink squares on General Mills brand items.  Please follow this link for a complete list of participating products:  http://www.boxtops4education.com/AboutBoxTops/Products.aspx.

Julie wants us to be sure to go to their website also and sign up for any sweepstakes they have running.  It takes just a few minutes to register.  The more parents who are registered, the more bonus boxtops we accrue.  Thank you!

MARTIN'S A+ REWARDS PROGRAM

As many of you know, Mountain Laurel participates in Martin's A+ School Rewards Program.  So far, our total rewards amount is $965.75 with 88 card numbers registered!!!  We're still the top earning private school in the local area - way to shop!!!  If you have not already done so, please send your 11-digit Bonus Card number to Elaine Glier via email, telephone, or the office, so we can designate your school bonus points to Mountain Laurel (this has no effect on any other promotions that you accrue with your Bonus Card).  All Bonus Card numbers begin with 480.  No other information is needed, so please don't worry about getting unsolicited correspondence - not even your name is required for registration!  Do you have any relatives, neighbors or friends who shop at Martin's?  Ask them to let us designate their Bonus Card numbers, too!  Thanks to all those who have already sent in their numbers to help us take full advantage of this generous and simple fundraising opportunity!!!
