Winter Weather Advisory

It is likely that snow could complicate our schedule tomorrow, so here is a reminder about our policies:

SNOW POLICIES

The closing or delay of school because of weather will be announced on WFTR (1450 AM) and WINC (92.5 FM).  Closing and delay of school information will also be posted on the homepage of our website:

 www.mountainlaurelmontessori.org

We will not be following any of the county public school systems for our decisions to close or delay school.  Never attempt to drive to school if you have any concerns about your safety!  There may be times when we make different decisions for the Front Royal campus and the Sunny Slope campus, so listen to the announcements carefully.  We will try to make closing/delay decisions by 6:30 AM, but because weather conditions can deteriorate quickly, please continue to monitor your radio or the website for updates.

It is possible that the weather will be fine in the morning, but get hazardous later on.  This may require us to close school early or cancel aftercare.  If you have any concerns about weather conditions, feel free to pick up your child early.  If we decide to close school early or cancel aftercare, we will put notices on our website and on the radio.  We will also activate our telephone tree.

Please make sure we have correct telephone numbers and emergency contacts!!!

PUNCTUALITY IS A VALUABLE LESSON
Once in a while, there may be a good reason for being late, but this should be a rare exception.  Please be a good model of consideration for your children and their teachers by arriving to school on time.  Teachers begin their lessons promptly so when a child arrives late, he/she cannot receive the warm welcome that helps ease them into their day.  Late arrivals also disrupt the class to the detriment of everyone.  Please note that chronic lateness violates our school policies and may be grounds for dismissal.

CALLING ALL ANGELS ...
There are still plenty of tags left on our Angel Tree in the Front Royal campus library.  Please take the time to choose a tag from our Angel Tree!  There is a duplicate stapled to your tag.  Be sure to write your name on the second tag and drop it in the small box by the tree.  Please bring your new, unwrapped items, along with the Angel Tree tag, to the office by Tuesday, 12/11/07.

WOMEN'S SHELTER FOOD PANTRY
Thanks to all who have already brought in non-perishable food, as well as hygiene and cleaning supplies, to contribute to the Women's Shelter.  Collection boxes are located in the Front Royal campus library and Primary foyer until the last day of school before Winter Break.

BAKERS NEEDED FOR WINTER HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD CELEBRATION
We will be having tasting tables for three different holiday treats.  Would you like to bake a batch for us?  If so, please contact Elaine Glier by responding to this email or calling the school at 636-4257.  We also need more volunteers to run activity stations or accompany a group of children.  Please contact Elaine Glier if you can help.  Thank you!!!

MARTIN'S A+ REWARDS PROGRAM

As many of you know, Mountain Laurel participates in Martin's A+ School Rewards Program.  So far, our total rewards amount is $401.11 with 83 card numbers registered!!!  We're still the top earning private school in the local area - way to shop!!!  If you have not already done so, please send your 11-digit Bonus Card number to Elaine Glier via email, telephone, or the office, so we can designate your school bonus points to Mountain Laurel (this has no effect on any other promotions that you accrue with your Bonus Card).  All Bonus Card numbers begin with 480.  No other information is needed, so please don't worry about getting unsolicited correspondence - not even your name is required for registration!  Do you have any relatives, neighbors or friends who shop at Martin's?  Ask them to let us designate their Bonus Card numbers, too!  Thanks to all those who have already sent in their numbers to help us take full advantage of this generous and simple fundraising opportunity!!!

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION
Thanks to the hard work and diligence of Julie Smith, our school has already made $65.50 this school year from sending in Boxtops for Education.  Please check your cupboards and pantry for those cute little pink squares on General Mills brand items.  Please follow this link for a complete list of participating products:  http://www.boxtops4education.com/AboutBoxTops/Products.aspx.  Thank you!
