Montessori Beginnings

Montessori Beginnings is a parent/infant education program serving families with babies 8 weeks to 3 years. Developmental changes occur seemingly overnight in children the first two years. It is important to understand children’s developmental needs at every stage so that we may support their quest for independence. Parents of very young children crave information and support that is best given by those who have “been there.”

Montessori Beginnings is a gathering of parents or caregivers and their infants or toddlers in a cheerful, relaxed environment that is scaled to the comfort of very young children. Young babies are encouraged to manipulate beautiful, hand-made mobiles and toys that stimulate eye-hand coordination. A movement mat, cruising bar, mirrors, walking wagons and other materials encourage babies to crawl, creep, cruise and walk independently. Child-sized furniture, cleaning implements, and cooking tools entice toddlers to manipulate and beautify "their world". By working with real tools and performing real tasks, the children enjoy a sense of competence and self-confidence.

Montessori Beginnings meets from 9:30 - 11:30 on Friday mornings throughout the school year. Five or ten-week session passes may be purchased and used at the parent's convenience. New families are invited to call and arrange a free visit.
